Feel better, move better,

Be better

I am results-oriented.

Most chronic (ongoing) conditions need the time and focus to
implement lasting changes. Like going to the gym or attending yoga classes. You aren’t going to see results by only going once, or going sporadically.

Studies have shown chronic pain may not only be caused by physical injury but also by stress and emotional issues.

Don’t sit around waiting for something to change, take the steps NOW.

Give yourself permission to get away from your obligations and take care of your mental and physical health.

“When training 5 times a week for my blackbelt in karate, Alex was my lifesaver. Regular massages from Alex helped my body heal and recover from soreness and injuries. Alex is an amazing masseuse; knowledgeable, professional and caring. I highly recommend her” … Jane O

“I was extremely satisfied and pleased with Alex’s services. She was able to pinpoint my painful areas and knew exactly how to treat these areas and I felt so much better after the treatments. Alex is serious and passionate about ensuring that her clients receive the best possible treatment and benefit from her knowledge and experience.

In addition to her capability, Alex is very flexible with her time and was able to accommodate my requests for additional treatments without even a hint of a problem which was very much appreciated at the time that I needed her services.

I would strongly recommend Alex for her great knowledge, client service and passion for her work.” … Lino M

FAQ

What tools do I use to get results?

There are a few tools that I implement in my practice to get the best results. Trigger point therapy will target specific tight spots in the muscle to encourage them to relax, breaks down the adhesions and removes the tension. While Cupping (using fire) is a Chinese Medicine practice with many uses, I utilize this tool as a way to loosen restrictions and adhesions in the tissue, thereby relaxing the muscle, which allows me to work deeper, especially if the problem muscles lies below the superficial tissue. It also increases blood flow to the area and encourages faster healing. You aren’t always left with unsightly red marks if you are concerned about the look. I can alter the level of suction that I use. I also find it fantastic when needing to do some myofascial release. Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hand son technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

What can I expect in my first treatment?

On your first visit, you will be required to fill out the Initial Consultation Form. I require some information about yourself and why you are seeing me for treatment i.e. sore back and shoulders, headaches, sports injury etc. I will also ask for some other information about your presenting condition and future goals, to give me a deeper understanding of your needs.

After this step, you will be taken to my private treatment room, where you will be asked to undress to the level of your comfort. During your massage, your therapist will ask for your feedback, so please feel free to let them know at this point if you would like them to change their technique. THIS is especially important if you want to achieve a trusted and successful therapeutic relationship with me.

If you are satisfied and wish to continue, ongoing sessions will help to identify the primary cause/s of your condition, and then we can formulate a plan to prevent your problem from re-occurring. This may involve specifically prescribed exercises, ergonomic advice and/or a regular ‘tune-up’ visit.
Once your pain has been relieved, prevention is the priority. Early intervention is the key to avoiding acute flare-ups of your condition.

Do I need a referral?

It is not necessary to get a referral to see me, BUT if you have a serious and persistent chronic condition that requires regular GP practitioner follow-ups, I would prefer to get a written letter from your GP to say he is happy for you to receive massage treatments and copies of any results or scans relevant to your condition. I am happy to forward you my documentation regarding my privacy policy for accessing this information.

How do I redeem my ‘bonus minutes’ when purchasing bulk packages?

When making a booking online, please use the additional comments section to mention that you would like to redeem some bonus minutes and how many, so I can block that section of time after the standard consultation time frame. e.g. ‘Could I have 10 extra minutes to work on my head? I feel a headache looming.’

That way, your bonus minutes can be added to my calendar and avoid clashing with other appointments.

What are the payment options?

I accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa and Mastercard.

HICAPS/Health Fund claiming facilities are available for on-the-spot claiming. The amount covered depends on the individual’s level of cover with your health fund. Please check with your health fund for your level of cover.

How do I book a Remedial Massage Session?

Remedial massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body, through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, by either following or crossing over the muscle fibres, fascia and tendons.

The techniques can include Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue Massage, and stretching thereby creating an improved range of motion through the joints. I will also provide information and advice for re-educating your body to let go of built-up tension and to help correct muscular imbalances in the body.

Deep tissue techniques help speed up the recovery time of overworked muscles by clearing the build-up of waste products and delivering oxygen and other nutrients to the tissues following vigorous exercise. It may help to prevent or reduce muscle soreness after exercise.

When making an appointment for your first remedial session, please book the initial 45-minute consultation. This allows for sufficient time to discuss your injury history and time for assessment and treatment. If you have a referral from your treating therapist or GP,  please bring it with you.

Any follow-up consultations can be done for a standard 30-minute or extended 45-minute consultation depending on which areas need focused treatment.
